Nola Nelson-Blake, 60, of Tuscon, Ariz., passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Casa De La Luz (House of Light) Hospice Care of Tucson. There will be a casting of her ashes at a later date, but no services are scheduled. Nola was born July 13, 1952, in Elkader, and graduated from Central Community High School in 1970. She was baptized and confirmed at Norway Lutheran Church of St. Olaf. Nola was crowned Miss Elkader in 1969, She attended Capri Cosmetology in Dubuque and went on to a successful career as a platform artist of hair care and permanent makeup. Nola is survived by her husband, Jim Blake, of Tucson; mother WillaDean Kaeser, Decorah; sister, Nina Taylor (Ron), Decorah; brother, LeRoy Nelson (Deanna), Elkader; six nieces and nephews and their families; stepmother, Norma Nelson, and three step-nephews and their families; as well as numerous cousins and extended family that were very important to Nola. She is preceded in death by her father, Neil Nelson, St. Olaf, and maternal and paternal grandparents; one aunt and one cousin.
