Garnavillo seeks home builders and home buyers

The City of Garnavillo has received word that the Iowa Economic Development Authority has announced a fourth round of funding for the Single Family New Construction (SFNC) Program totaling $25 million.

There is $2,210,277 in funding available for several counties, including Clayton County.  Proposals for the program will be accepted at the Iowa Economic Development Authority through Feb. 29.

As in the past rounds, qualifying homebuyers in Iowa's 85 counties which were presidentially-declared disaster areas in the 2008 floods may be eligible for assistance of up to 25 percent of the purchase price of a new home built under the Single

Family New Construction Program.

Qualified homebuyers must be at or below 80 percent of the Area Median Income by household size established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). All assisted homebuyers must be able to support a mortgage as evidenced by a firm loan commitment, and must maintain the property as their primary residence for five years. Assistance from this program cannot be combined with the Federal Jumpstart Homebuyer Assistance or State Jumpstart Down Payment Assistance programs for the same house or owner.

Houses eligible for this program cannot be located in the 100-year floodplain. Properties must be single family dwellings, single family unit condominiums or modular homes on permanent foundations. The housing units must be built by an approved builder and cannot exceed $150,000.

"The City of Garnavillo has 15 great residential lots for sale at very low prices in a quiet and conveniently located neighborhood," notes Denise Schneider, city administrator/clerk."These lots have concrete paved streets with curb and gutter, along with underground utilities run to each lot. Let us help you make your dream of homeownership a reality."

Any developer or homebuyer who would like additional information should call Upper Explorerland RPC to visit with Lori Brockway at 563-864-7551, Ext. 106 or Denise Schneider with the City of Garnavillo at 563-964-2331.
