Clayton Ridge riders "make a difference" for St. Jude's
By Sharon Keehner
A "making a difference" event to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital was held on Thursday, May 8, in Garnavillo. Janice Berns was the volunteer coordinator for this event. There were 35 riders.
As always, many moms were on the corners of the route to ensure the children's safety. The children got donations from family and friends and so far have raised over $1000 for the St. Jude's hospital for the fight against childhood cancer and other catastrophic diseases.
Local businesses donated money to buy prizes for the children. The one who raises the most money and has the most laps will win the big prizes. All the children will receive a certificate for riding, and if they raised $35 they will get a St. Jude's t-shirt. Those raising $75 or more will receive a St. Jude's duffle bag. For further information on St. Jude's hospital, visit the website at www.stjude.org
